I am currently applying for a Ph.D in the humanities, and I found this guide by Grace Tang to be very useful for the earlier stages of researching and getting in contact with Professors. The book covers possible concerns early in the application process, such as choosing the right school and doing research, to explicating sample personal statements and giving interview tips.I particularly found the email templates to be extremely useful, as I often have quite a lot of trouble in striking the appropriate tone in emails. The detailed edits on the personal statement sample I also found useful in editing my own statement, in terms of identifying possible weak points.
Overall, an easy-to-understand and comprehensive guide that I would recommend to anyone in the earlier stages of graduate school application.

I found this guide quite helpful, especially in terms of the sample emails and such that needed to be sent at the various stages of the PhD application process.
A quick read. This is definitely a "tips" book. There is an example of a statement of purpose with comments and a few communication templates. This book definitely points you in the right direction and the seriousness of preparation for the app and the interview
Written by somehow who's been through the process and hence talks from personal experience.! (especially since she was in the admission committee..!) Surely deserves a read..
I have just completed all of my applications and I am anxiously awaiting the interview process. I have never been interviewed before and so I don't know what to expect and I don't know how to prepare so that I leave a good impression. This book was perfect and gave great guidelines on how to prepare and even provided recommendations on how to follow up after interviews.
